ABOUT US
G & J Barron was established in its current location in 1943 by George Barron. George previously farmed turkeys with his brothers at Summers Hall in Blackmore End near Braintree, before moving to Chappel to farm on his own.
The farm is now run by David, Roger and Ross Barron and we produce 2200 turkeys for Christmas and Thanksgiving alongside arable cropping. Each year we open a farm shop for three days to sell our home-reared turkeys and a variety of local produce with the aim of providing everything you need for your Christmas festivities. Please come along and see us at our farm shop, complimentary food and drinks are provided to all customers.
Our turkeys are traditional slow-growing breeds, reared on our own homegrown cereals. They are all dry hand-plucked and hung for a minimum of 10 days to provide an optimum flavoured bird that remains moist when cooked. If you would like any further information about our farm or any of our produce please do get in touch by email, phone or check out our website and Facebook page to see what we get up to on the farm throughout the year.
